Meet Alara Nolan

The Family Chronicles was founded by Alara Nolan in 2023 with the intention of providing a comfortable and safe space for children and parents to feel supported in having their views and perspectives seen and heard during the Family Law Court process. Alara aims to ensure that all forensic reports completed are impartial, child-focussed, and succinctly capture the views of the parties and children involved.

Qualifications and Experience:

Alara holds a Bachelor of Social Work and is an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers. She is also a Regulation 7 Family Consultant for the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia. Alara is a registered Step-by-Step Assessor for foster care, relative or kinship care, guardianship, or adoption reports.

Alara has over 12 years' experience working with families, adults, children & young people. She has extensive experience in: child protection, mental health of all ages, perinatal mental health, parenting support, family therapy, children and toddler behaviour, youth mental health, bereavement in pregnancy and beyond, trauma, family and domestic violence, sexual assault, and substance use. Additionally, Alara has received training in a number of parenting programs and is a trained facilitator of the Circle of Security Parenting program.

Alara is skilled in providing a safe environment that encourages parents and children to engage confidently and comfortably in the assessment and interview process. Alara has specialised skills in understanding the various presentations that children may exhibit and the developmental milestones that correlate with each age group. This provides the Court with a unique and comprehensive understanding of the potential outcomes for children based off proposed parenting arrangements.

Alara is up to date with the latest training, practice and guidelines provided by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. She attends group consultation regularly on family law matters with Dr Peter Krabman and receives professional supervision with Kim Coshaw.
